Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.
The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.
Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. Why "Travel" Edition?
The modern traveler is making travel tech industry ripe for disruption. Modern travelers are a new breed of individuals who plan and go on a trip by their own.They research and create their trips based on multiple online resources, book their own flights and hotel often on the last minute and on their mobile phones. They can city hop across the regions and the world and work at the same time in co-working spaces, and they create their trips on the go based on crowd-sourced, social, and/or location-based review and recommendation platforms. They want to explore something different, discover a local experience and do something off the beaten track. Unfortunately, the existing platforms and solutions in the travel industry have not kept up with digitally connected, creative, and adventurous nature of the modern traveler.

Open Data คือข้อมูลแบบเปิดในรูปแบบมาตรฐาน ซึ่งอนุญาตให้นำไปใช้ ดัดแปลง ต่อเติม ทำซ้ำ และพัฒนาในรูปแบบอื่น เช่น รายงานวิเคราะห์ แอปพลิเคชัน และภาพแสดงข้อมูล
ที่ผ่านมามีหน่วยงานต่างๆ ทั้งภาครัฐ เอกชน ประชาสังคม และองค์การระหว่างประเทศ เปิดเผยข้อมูลในรูปแบบ Open Data เป็นจำนวนมาก ข้อมูลเหล่านี้เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคม รวมถึงการประสานการทำงานระหว่างภาคส่วนต่างๆ ของสังคม
ปัจจุบันมีรัฐบาลมากกว่า 163 ประเทศ ให้บริการฐานข้อมูลแบบเปิด สำหรับประเทศไทย มีการจัดกิจกรรมเกี่ยวกับ Open Data มาเป็นระยะๆ ทั้งในรูปแบบการทำเวิร์คช็อป สัมมนา และ hackathon เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และสร้างต้นแบบการใช้ข้อมูลแบบเปิด
ในเดือนกันยายน 2557 ที่ผ่านมา สำนักงานรัฐบาลอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ (สรอ.) ได้เปิดตัว เว็บไซต์บริการข้อมูลเปิดภาครัฐ data.go.th และมีแผนในการสร้างความร่วมมือกับหน่วยงานภาครัฐจำนวนมาก เพื่อให้เกิดระบบฐานข้อมูลเปิดในหน่วยงานต่าง ๆ ของภาครัฐ
ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้เห็นประโยชน์ของการเปิดเผยข้อมูลภาครัฐ และเชื่อมโยงกับนักพัฒนาและผู้ที่ใช้ต้องการ ใช้ข้อมูลภาครัฐ เครือข่ายพลเมืองเน็ต สถาบันเชนจ์ฟิวชั่น โอเพ่นดรีม มาดี และ สำนักงานรัฐบาลอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ (สรอ.) จึงร่วมกันจัดกิจกรรม Open Data Hackathon ขึ้นในวันที่ 8-9 พฤศจิกายน 2557 เพื่อให้เกิดการพัฒนาต้นแบบการใช้ข้อมูลภาครัฐ ในรูปแบบเว็บหรือโมบายแอปพลิเคชัน ที่สามารถพัฒนาต่อยอดเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการที่เกิดจากการใช้ระบบฐานข้อมูลเปิดภาครัฐในอนาคต
วัตถุประสงค์
เพื่อพัฒนาแอปพลิเคชันที่ต่อยอดใช้งานข้อมูลเปิดภาครัฐ เพื่อประโยชน์ในการบริการสาธารณะ
เพื่อส่งเสริมชุมชนนักพัฒนาแอปพลิเคชัน เพื่อขยายผลการใช้งานข้อมูลเปิดภาครัฐ
